1. If people put a fraction of the effort expended in "proving" teh mercury causes teh autism
into fighting to fully fund county and state mental health programs that provide ABA therapies to kids on the spectrum, bullshit like this wouldn't bother me. As it is, though, I despair. And my child only gets a portion of the services he really could use.

3. It's not as though money is being spent on "proving" the theory. Quite the opposite.
If we know the cause we can focus on prevention and programs and therapies become unnecessary. That said we do need to assist children with autism in every possible way.

6. It is highly likely that in some subset of the population, exposure to
thimerosol (especially in high doses), could lead to symptoms of autism. The F.D.A. has already acknowledged this, for example, in children with mitochondrial disorders. Until we know which children are most vulnerable, it makes sense to have eliminated it from all children's vaccines. It was not a necessary ingredient -- it was only used in order to allow multiple-use containers.

It isn't necessary to disparage people who are convinced that thimerosol may be ONE of the risk factors for autism in some children, in order to fight for adequate services for your child. I hope the new administration will do better for your child and all the rest who deserve better care. On the other hand, I hope we will also make some strides in understanding how the disorder occurs and what can be done to prevent it.

8. Since Thimerosal was removed from all routine childhood vaccines in 2001, what happened?.

2. Why are people at the end of the video blaming only Kerry for doing nothing?
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 02:09 AM by politicasista
Shouldn't their blame or anger be directed at Bush or the Democratic leadership for not making this an issue? Why don't they call other senators and ask them to get on board. Kerry can't do it all by himself. Sheesh.

Edit cause this post was not directed at the OP personally. :hi:

4. I'm not blaming Kerry.
I commend him for daring to speak what he deems is true in this regard.

Sorry for my cryptic post. :hi:

7. Read the "more info" section of that page
It says:
"Instead of precautionary action, John Kerry aside from alerting the listening audience of Don Imus to Thimerosal, fully supported an autism bill drafted by the drug/vaccine industry lobby which benefits only the well-heeled NPO sharks."

And this makes me VERY glad Hillary isn't president:
"Do we ignore the fact that in 2005, Sen. Hillary Clinton sponsored a $200,000,000 bill to force the dubious mercury-laced flu shot on pregnant moms, infants, and toddlers for the first time ever. Do we do due diligence and discover that the flu shot has the full load of ethylmercury in it? Shouldn't you also know that rejecting sound advice Ms. Clinton expressed no preference for Thimerosal-free flu shots?"

C'mon, Hillary, let's see you have that crap injected into your fat @$$.

I absolutely won't have a flu shot, because I don't want this crap in my body.
