1. I agree that lawsuits help keep 'em honest
because some companies have knowingly marketed defective drugs and medical equipment, suppressing evidence that there was a problem with their product. It's the only mechanism we have to make sure the penalty vastly outweighs any temporary financial gain they realize from selling faulty products.

The same goes for any other industry.

We are constitutionally guaranteed the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. That's our right to the civil court system.
