An idea for a video.
First, let me say,I'm not gay, nor am I religious.

I have had numerous gay friends over the years. Once I went to the beach with a group of my gay friends. One night we were sitting around drinking, and I asked if anyone had chosen to be gay. All of them said no. It is my understanding that people don't choose their sexuality - we are the way we are.

I having been thinking about this "Prop 8" stuff and the kinds of people who get all in an uproar about homosexuality. Most of these people have 2 major arguments. First, they believe that homosexuality is a choice. Second, they believe that God condemns it. These people also believe, of course, that God is responsible for all life, and that we are born the way God wants us to be born. When someone is born with a birth defect, for example, they will usually say, "Well, it was God's will." or "God works in mysterious ways." or something to that effect.

I have had an idea for a video. I don't have the means to produce such a thing, but here is what I would make and have advertised on TV, internet, whatever:

First, a black screen with white text would ask, "Did you choose to be gay?" For about 20 seconds, I would have a collage of interview after interview with gay person after gay person saying, "No." "No." "No." "No, I didn't choose my sexuality." "No." "Nope." etc. etc. etc.

Then I would cut to another black screen with white text that says, "How about having a little..." and then cut to a picture of Jesus with the word "Compassion." underneath. Then cut to another black screen with white text that says, "We are all what the Lord made us to be."

I think one of the key things to insure equal rights for homosexuals is to convince people that homosexuality is not a choice. Once this happens, the religious crowd can no longer have indignation about people who are the way they were born as God intended them to be.
