I guess we forgot Transgender Day of Remembrance....
I remember Krystal.

I met her at Club 219 before it closed some years ago. She had recently moved to Milwaukee from Michigan. The bar was pretty much empty on this particular night but for a few regulars and the new girl, Krystal. We chatted and she was young 22 I think and was excited to be out and transitioning and looking forward to establishing a act and being a professional show girl. She had long blond hair and dreams of being a star.

She was doing what ever she could to survive. She had issues, admitted drug use and struggling to survive. She couldn't get a job. So she danced and hooked.

Club 219 closed shortly after and I never saw her again. Until I read a report in the paper a couple years later.

A transgender woman was murdered in a hotel in Elk Grove a few blocks from Hunters nite club. They reported her male name and alias of Krystal, how she was originally from Michigan.

She was found by the cleaning staff at the hotel. She had been beaten to death.

1. I have the pleasure of being a great friend with an awesome transgendered person.
If some people had their way she and her partner (not TG but lesbian) would never be able to work professionally in this world and be happy...they'd have her end up like Krystal.

RIP Krystal.

2. Not all of us forgot it...
Yesterday was a very sad day. So many lives taken...

www.lavenderliberal.com remembered many yesterday on her blogsite.

3. My GSA put up some posters about it, and we had an announcement.
