I lobbied my legislators to deep six an anti gay rights amendment
Today under the auspices of the North Carolina Religious People in favor of Marriage Equality I lobbied legislators to refrain from amending the NC Constitution with an amendment that would basicly takeaway both marriage and any form of same sex union. We had a moring worship service, which was very lovely, then we had a lobbying training seminar, and finally we had a rally before going to see our legislators.

We will probably make it due to the fact we can bottle this up in committee in the House. But it was still important to give religious arguments in favor of not amending the Constitution. For now it appears we won't go the way of Virginia, Ohio and a host of other states.

1. Did you catch what happened in San Fransisco today?
The mayor said that gay marriage was legal. Now what? Bush gonna send in the army?

They were very smart, we live in a democracy where the majority rules unless it infringes on someone else's rights. a poll was taken and the majority of the cities residents approve of gay marriage. No ones rights are stepped on because two same sex people live together under the bonds of marrage....they can just get insured and share in inheritances like other married people.

So now...is democracy not valid anymore just over this issue? Are we now going to have one city where one thing is legal an no where else? Bush, at first, left it up to the states....I guess now it is up to the cities.

3. Yes, will be interestint to watch it unfold but San Fransisco seems to be
the best hope for a first step. If one town stands firm and wins....others will follow.
