Indiana Gay Marriage Ban Advances

There were tears and anger Monday as a proposed amendment to the Indiana constitution to ban gay marriage advanced to the House for a vote.

Indiana already has a Defense of Marriage law but many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say it is not enough to prevent judges from allowing gay marriage.

The public gallery was filled as the House Judiciary Committee passed the resolution 9-3 after listening to more than two hours of debate.

1. I'm not surprised
I'm more surprised that Indiana hasn't done it already.

Follow in the footsteps of Missouri, use the State Constitution to deny equal rights to a significant percentage of the population. Whose rights are already denied by state law.

2. Where will they stop?
What's next... putting us in jail? Killing us off? Banning marriage simply won't put us back in the closet or make us go away...
