I am thinking of making a new group on faceboook called: NO MONEY TO BIGOTS
( can you guys give me some input?)

This is a GLBT rights group. We pledge to NEVER AGAIN donate to politicians who do not believe in equal rights for us. We are sick and tired of being treated as second class citizens. Take this pledge with me today: NO MONEY TO BIGOTS.

A lot of work hard for democrats who are bigots. Let us be clear that if you do not believe in equal rights, including and especially gay marriage, you are a bigot. You would not accept this attitude in a friend, why would you accept it in a leader?
The Democrats have finally won the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. We should be served by the party we worked for, donated to and volunteered and canvassed for. If they do not work for us in the next cycle, DO NOT DONATE TO BIGOTS. DO NOT VOLUNTEER FOR BIGOTS.

If you have the time and money volunteer for GLBT organizations. Donate your time and effort to people who are fighting for you. Not against you.DO NOT DONATE TO BIGOTS. DO NOT VOLUNTEER FOR BIGOTS

I will not ask you to pledge your vote. Since very often for us the vote comes down to : One who tolerates us vs One who wants us to go to hell today. So when it comes to voting, we each have to do what our conscience allows. The pledge is only for your money and your time.

DO NOT DONATE TO BIGOTS. DO NOT VOLUNTEER FOR BIGOTS

I'll join in a heartbeat, and I have friends who probably would as well.

3. I just saw a thread locked that was critical of the Morman church.

I know there are many threads critical of the church out there and not sure why this one in particular got locked but it did. the reason was the "broad brush smears" etc. etc. reason. I was wondering if they were going to lock threads for this reason. I am also seeing threads pop up from people who are angry with the criticism of the church. I am going to be seriously pissed if eventually we are going to be shut down in our discussion because we are "religion bashing". I don't see why a religious group that's official position essentially makes it a HATE GROUP should be exempt from criticism just because some misguided "liberal' is a member and STUPID enough to remain a member when it's official position is so anti-liberal and totally against anything a decent human being is for. This is going to get interesting and I WON'T be pleased if we have to cater to the deluded Morman apologists. to me, they are a fucking religious HATE group.

11. Mormons spent $20 million to tell residents of another state how to live
Who cares about their holy underwear, it's their goddamn bigoted activism that chaps my ass.

14. We've played nice so far. And this is where it got us.
If they mormons are actively organized to interfere with our lives, then it's war on them.

That IS the consequence. I don't give a shit about their religion or particulars of faith. They attacked us. They had better batten down the fucking hatches, legally speaking.

Broad brush? They are pretty much unanimous, so I believe they painted themselves long before we got to the party.

They hate us for who we are. I hate them for what they've done. There IS a difference.

4. lionesspriyanka- Great idea and use of net question.
look, I am not on facebook, my space, twitter, etc.

but, I know that the Obama campaign used the inter net as a networking tool and a unity building tool and a way to get out the message.

While a "Do not do..." message as you suggest is fine.

My question is, how do we use the inter net to get out a positive, non angry message?

Maybe a face book and other community building sites that are affirmative and invite GLBT's from all groups and races to join in our fight against bigotry and intolerance?

No need ot mention any churches, that is a land mine and people already know who is funding and pushing this rw war against gays.

So, do you or anyone here have an interest in getting some internet support site for gay's and gay families, in short an inclusive, inviting site to create a grassroots inter net sense of out rage at the unfairness and danger of the jack booted rw witch hunters?

From now on gays and people who care about them must watch VERY closely what politicians say or do. We have to be willing to read the tea leaves and accept what they say.

BO tossed gays under the bus last spring with Donnie McClurkin. BO has spent the rest of the campaign practically running from gays. The signs were there. No matter how good someone is otherwise, we have to acknowledge and believe signs of abandonment. I have no belief that we are dealing with any friendlier of a President now.

I left DU for a while because I did not back BO as the nominee. My mistake. I should have stayed and reported what I saw.

On edit: Your point about vote is well-taken. Our votes are sacred and belong to us. I never told anyone how to vote and I sure as shit pushed back hard when someone tried to tell me how to vote. However, information must shared, and gay-unfriendliness must not be waved away.
