Join the Virtual Rally Today, March 10, 2005

Join Family Pride Coalition from anywhere in the country by taking part in our nationwide Virtual Rally on Washington, D.C. today, March 10, 2005. Together with thousands of others around the country, express your outrage at the harmful rhetoric being espoused by the Department of Education, the very department responsible for leading the nation's education agenda. To participate, all you need to do is call or email the Department of Education on today, March 10, 2005 and demand that LGBT families be given the equality, respect and dignity all other families enjoy.

The controversy began late January when Spellings issued a strongly-worded letter denouncing PBS and the producers of “Postcards from Buster" for featuring a family with two moms, declaring, "Many parents would not want their young children exposed to the lifestyles portrayed in the episode.” It is Family Pride's hope that this Virtual Rally will raise awareness of the subject matter surrounding the program, while also generating support from the public in defending the integrity of all families.

Watch the Episode

Family Pride Coalition (FPC), the only national non-profit solely dedicated to equality for LGBT families, is proud to offer "Sugartime!," the episode of popular children’s program "Postcards from Buster" at the center of a heated debate. "Sugartime!" features a pair of lesbian moms and their children, all living and working on a farm in Vermont. Department of Education Secretary Margaret Spellings demanded the episode be pulled after declaring, "Many parents would not want their young children exposed to the lifestyles portrayed in the episode." We feel that once you’ve seen it, you’ll be compelled to join Family Pride in making your voice heard.

Please take the time to watch the "Sugartime!" video.

Help Us Spread the Word

We need as many voices united together against discrimination. And remember, you don’t have to be LGBT to believe in equal rights for the LGBT community.

Please tell your friends and family about participating in the Virtual Rally.
