Fundamentalists blame Wall Street's woes on gays

Christian fundamentalists are suggesting gays and lesbians are to blame for Wall Street's woes, a frequently made charge in the wake of national calamities. In a September 25th blog post titled 'The Nation Will Right Itself If It Fixes Sex', Christian Civil League of Maine Executive Director Michael Heath writes that the financial crisis facing Wall Street is a symptom of America's sinful sexual culture, including the acceptance of gay unions. “Our crisis is a symptom, not the cause,” writes Michael Heath. “I am not saying I know whether this financial crisis is God's judgment or not. It is not for me to know that definitively.”

Heath goes on to list policy changes that would make God “crack a smile,” including: End abortion rights and defund non-profit groups supporting it, amend state constitutions to ban gay marriage and eliminate domestic partnerships and civil unions for gay and lesbian couples, and end discrimination against private religious schools and homeschools.

A related post by Center for Immigration Studies Executive Director Mark Krikorian at the National Review's website pushes a similar theme, this time focusing on Friday's failure of WaMu. Krikorian suggests the big bank failed because it was too accommodating to minorities, including gays, African-Americans and Hispanics.

In his September 26th post titled 'Cause and Effect?', Krikorian writes, “I really thought this was a joke, but it's not. WaMu's final press release, before it sank beneath the waves.” The press release lists the general accomplishments of WaMu in diversifying its workforce, including earning a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index – a rating indicative of the gay-friendliness of a company's official policies.

- Oh sure, let the greedy fucking fatcats on Wall Street off the hook and blame this shit on teh gays. So once again the Fundies go for the low-hanging fruit (no pun intended). These stupid bastards have deduced that if there is a financial crisis (or any crisis for that matter) it must be because of teh gays. I suppose teh gays also did the same thing back in 1929 as well, but apparently got away with it back then. Teh gays are likewise probably responsible for causing the Civil War, the Great Schism, the Peloponnesian War, and of course, the heartbreak of psoriasis.

I have only one word to describe these dumbass mofo's: BANKRUPT.

They are as bankrupt as Wall Street is right now. There never was and there definitely isn't now, "anything there." Okay? These asshats haven't got bupkiss. And their bullshit fairy tales aren't enough on their own anymore, because after you've heard those lines hundreds of times, people start to nod off. So you need to spice things up a bit. Meaning that you have to "embellish" your storyline to keep the asses in the seats and awake -- at least until after the collection.

And so this is the best they can come up with. Again. Some greedy fuckers on Wall Street steals grandma's retirement funds and they blame teh gays. Fanatical Muslims fly planes into the Twin Towers: teh gays. A hurricane floods New Orleans: teh gays.

It must be a comfort for them to have such a simple mind. Never having to burden one's self with life's complexities. Only having to be responsive to light and dark, cold and warmth, hunger and satiation. You know, the basics of life. Like amoebas. In point of fact, they could probably just as easily survive with only a brain stem since it appears that this is all they use most of the time.

What's really disturbing to me is that there are still people who continue to buy this bullshit. People who actually believe this crap AND then give these bastards their money. They're just like those hucksters on Wall Street, some people will believe any kind of bullshit crap when you appeal to their basic instincts. Like greed and hate. And besides, I understand that they get headaches if they have to think too hard.

Whenever I read some crap from an asshole like this, I bemoan the fact that oral sex isn't the norm. Think of all the idiots that we could have avoided in life if it were....

...thank you for this link!!! I must be getting forgetful in my dotage. :P

The thing that impressed me so much about Ella Wilcox was her tenacity in fighting against the publishing world ruled by men who didn't want to publish her books. While I'd hardly describe her as a feminist, she was at least a proto-feminist!
