Anderson man chases gay son from home

ANDERSON COUNTY — Violence broke out Sunday in Anderson when an 18-year-old man returned home from a gay pride parade and was assaulted by his father.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, the battering took place about 1 p.m. Sunday on P Street.

During the assault, the teen's 49-year-old father yelled, cursed, swung a baseball bat, prayed and tried to “cast the demon of homosexuality out of him,” according to the teen's version of events to Deputy S.C. Weymouth, the incident report states.

About 2 p.m. Wednesday, the teen said his father punched him when he returned to the house for clothes that he left on Sunday, the report states.

The teen told deputies that his father “has a problem with him being gay and that is why he hit him with the baseball bat Sunday,” Weymouth said in his report.

The teen filed both complaints about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies, who have not been able to make immediate contact with the teen's father, report that both incidents are under investigation.

They need to line all you queers up, and gun you down like the social trash you are. I only wish his Father had two ball bats. I also know, this comment won't be up for long because we now live in the United States of the Offended. 4. The young man's attorney will see this through the court system so that

justice is delivered from this point forward, as I'm guessing it is illegal to strike human beings with ball bats, no matter the provocation. That this is a blood relative makes the story even worse somehow, but in any case, I'm hoping no judge / jury would feel that assault with a club is acceptable behavior of the law-abiding.

Madison's piece of paper does not cite LGBTQ parades as specifically sanctioned, but as we read that paper today, it would appear that citizens are permitted to participate in public events, whether political or social in nature.

(Anderson County, S.C.) An 18-year-old, who had told police he was beaten by his father after attending a gay pride parade, was charged Thursday with filing a false police report.

Dwight Clark Ables told police last week that his father yelled, swung the bat and tried to “cast the demon of homosexuality out of him.”

He claimed his 49-year-old father prayed as he swung the bat and then threw him out of the house. He also said that several days later, when the teen returned home to pick up his clothes, he was punched.

In the report he filed with police, the teen said that his father “has a problem with him being gay and that is why he hit him with the baseball bat.”

Investigators said Thursday they had found no evidence to support any of the allegations.

Ables is being held in a detention center awaiting trial.
