3. Slowly but surely.
I wish it was faster but humanity will win out over the Religious hypocrites. Just keep up the pressure.

4. A freeper was saying
Gay marriages are illegal in MOST states. I just laughed at her and said,"A few years ago, gay marriages were illegal in ALL states." She shut up after that.

5. Not quite
Technically, the ruling goes into effect at the start of business tomorrow, June 17. However, California common law holds that rulings such as this one legally go into effect as of the end of business the previous business day; in this case, 5 pm this afternoon, after all agencies that normally issue marriage licenses have closed. Some very few will remain open, which is how Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon will be legally hitched this evening by Mayor Newsom of San Francisco. In general, though, marriage will not begin until tomorrow, when the issuing agencies open for business.

10. The clerk's offices in Alameda and Sonoma counties
will be open 5-8 p.m. today (Monday) to issue marriage licenses. If I heard correctly, though, they won't perform ceremonies until tomorrow.

If I'm wrong about that, I hope someone will correct me.

8. Oh No! They goes heterosexual marriage down the shitter!
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 09:57 AM by Mountainman
I can not understand that meme. After it is a common thing, no one will pay attention to gay weddings unless your are invited to one or in one and the sun will come up, the moon will come out, the sea will rush to shore and heteros will still get married and divorced just as usual

What I really think gets to the homophobes is that deep down they know the meme doesn't hold water and that is about to be found out.

9. Tomorrow is the day...
Some couples (such as the very deserving Del and Phyllis) will be married this evening, but for the rest of us, it's tomorrow. And yes, my partner and I will be in line! We're planning to have a ceremony and reception in a few months, but don't want to wait a single day for these rights we've needed for so long.
