Shia Sorry for Using Anti-Gay Slur

Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf has apologized for using an anti-gay slur in a video that’s been circulating on the Internet.

The 22-year-old actor is shown in an old video acting like a drunken frat boy with his friends.

Shia and another dude engage in some kind of slapping match and he provokes his friend by calling him a “f****t.”

His peeps tell E! News, “The videotape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game among friends in which he uses a derogatory word toward a friend.”

Did he yell it while driving by a gay bar? No.
Did he use it in the company of friends? Yes.

Was it right? Meh. I've heard worse. He's apologized. Life moves on.

He certainly didn't use it to describe a fellow actor, like Isiah Washington did during that "Grey's Anatomy" episode. Which was completly uncalled for and shameful.

I think Shia LaBeouf is sorry about it and that's fine with me.

I've got nothing against the kid, however. If someone recorded everything I've ever said amongst friends, and played a tape of it to the nation, I'd be mortified, too. Anyone who HASN'T made a politically incorrect joke is too boring to know. And as long as we keep parsing words without consideration of context, and, more importantly, as long as we maintain the hypocritical double standard that we hold celebrities to, we're going to continue to pretend to be shocked and disgusted by them, and pay little to no attention to the REAL homophobic crap going on in the world.
