Please DU this poll on Marriage
Gov Schwarzenegger has a telephone poll up to gauge reaction to the California Supreme Court decision on Same Sex Marriage.

Please call (from every phone you can get your hands on).

The office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is polling reaction to the
California Supreme Court decision overturning the ban on gay marriage.
Most of the response they are getting is in OPPOSITION to the court action.

To vote in support of the Supreme Court's decision on LGBT marriage:

1. call 1-916-445-2841

2. press 1, 5, 1, 1 (these really are the prompts to push)

After you've done this, please send it on to all supporters you know.

(And don't forget to rec this thread!!)

Thanks

Dick and Rex

pass it on!

Thanks for posting this, from a heterosexual married lady who wants all people to be able to wed.

5. Why is he doing a poll? He's the one who said it was for the courts to decide.
The CA legislature twice passed an equal marriage bill that he vetoed twice. Twice he told the people of California (of which I was one of at the time) that is was an issue that belongs in the courts and for the courts to decide.

Well, Governor Schwarzenegger, the courts have decided and decided in favor of equal marriage. You already punted when given the opportunity to have your say on the matter as outlined in the state constitution. You said nothing when it your duty as the executive, now you can just keep saying nothing. No one wants to hear anything you have to say now.

6. He's on record opposing the ballot measure
There is an attempt to put a ballot measure in the November election which he has gone on record saying he opposes. I imagine that he wants to find out how much that might cost him politically. It might also be to find out how how much campaigning he needs to do on our behalf while opposing the measure.

We should not be surprised if there is more opposition than support for the decision or the ballot measure. The strength with which he opposes must be tailored to the amount of opposition that is voiced.

7. I'm more inclined to read it as figuring out the political costs
rather than trying to tailor his position to oppose the measure with proportionate strength counter to the strength of opposition.

If the former, then that implies that he will dilute or soften his opposition to the ballot measure if he calculates a greater price to pay politically the greater at odds he is with greater numbers of the populace. I'm assuming that's your interpretation because in this scenario, having supporters call the poll line is a vote to not dilute his opposition to the ballot measure.
