Gay themed cocktail party

i am being asked for ideas about a gay themed cocktail party for a gay pride happy hour

anyone have any suggestions for gay themed h'ordouevers/decorations for this party?

i suggested things in rainbow colors but what else???

1. I would suggest inviting a whole bunch of gay men and lesbians.

They tend to make any occassion homosexually oriented.

6. Well I'm not gay buuuuuut:

Red: Red Wine, Something with a crap load of maraschino cherries in it!
Orange: Grand Marquette Orange, just about any whiskey in a pinch!
Yellow: Lemon drops, “Limoncello” shots
Green: Appletinis/Midori Shots
Blue: Electric Coolaid, Cosmopolitans
Violet: Purple Haze (Cocktail)

Just some ideas. I have a feeling you can do some food dye in Martini based drinks as well...

3. What?

I thought gay people weren't any different from the rest of us! So what does "gay themed" mean? I was once vilified on here for using the term "gay lifestyle" and was told that there is no gay lifestyle and to suggest otherwise was to suggest that gay people are somehow different from the rest of us. So back to my original question: What does "gay themed" mean?

My friend once marched thru New York with the words "I LOVE C--K" written across his chest in magic marker. Got a lot of high fives!

I would think lionesspriyanka, that you should theme it on the group that will be there. If I was going to have one, it would be BEAR themed (bear flag colors, etc).

Find a common area within the group.

I'm not convinced it should be encouraged. It's a bit like the people dressing up as Vulcans and Klingons at Star Trek conventions.

I like the idea of taking the six colors of the pride flag and serving one specialty cocktail in that color.

And assuming the party is to celebrate the California decision, perhaps throw in a bit of a pioneer flavor with the appetizers (would I get in trouble if I suggested weenies and beans?) At the least, you might want to hang the state flags of Massachusetts and California on the wall, with the flag of your own state with a "Coming Soon!" banner on it.

13. Pick music from gay or gay-friendly/iconic musicians?

You've got Copeland, Bernstein, and Tchaikovsky (among others) for classical. If you want popular music, there's tons and tons available.

14. Oh for heavens sake!

We simply CAN'T have a gay celebration without quiche ... especially those little mini-quiches!

And for the lesbians, just plan a pot luck but remember to festoon the table with plenty of flannel and various pieces of softball equipment. Tres butch, don'cha know!
