Mosinee High students silently protest harassment (Wausau WI)

MOSINEE -- ... Mosinee High School students .. wore black, remained silent or did a combination of both to recognize those who are harassed by other students.

The activity was organized by the student Diversity Club to correspond with an all-school presentation on bullying and peer pressure. It was the Mosinee students' first Day of Silence, an annual event typically held to protest anti-gay and anti-lesbian attitudes. The day was observed by colleges and other schools April 25.

Students who joined the cause handed out stickers that read, "What are you going to do to end the silence?" They were allowed to speak during class but not to socialize in the hallways or at lunch ...
