Gay Ex-NJ Gov Divorce Trial Promises Sordid Details (She's a piece of work)
(Trenton, New Jersey) New Jersey's former first couple is finally about to become unhitched, and it figures to be especially messy.

Jim and Dina Matos McGreevey's divorce trial, which starts Tuesday, means the end of their 3 1/2-year separation that has lasted nearly as long as their marriage.

The trial will feature the usual squabbles - the ex-governor wants equal custody of their 6-year-old daughter, and alimony and child support are at issue as well. But the proceedings figure to be particularly salacious because of the question everybody has asked at least once: Did she know he was gay?

Matos McGreevey, 41, claims she was duped into marriage by a closeted gay man who needed the cover of a wife to advance his political career. McGreevey says he gave her a child and the coattails she rode to the governor's mansion, thus fulfilling the marriage contract.

(Here's my favorite part...Money grubbing?)
Matos McGreevey seeks $600,000 as compensation for the time she would have lived at the governor's mansion in Princeton had her soon-to-be-ex not resigned in disgrace. Perks enjoyed by a sitting governor's spouse include household servants, access to a state police helicopter and a state-owned beach house.

4. Thank you...She's hardly the only "piece of work" in this....
I don't understand why, when an ugly divorce like this occurs, some reflexively have to paint ONLY the woman as the perpetuator of the ugliness.

6. She's very stupid

It's entirely possible she didn't know. My cousin worked for McGrevey and he used to tell me the funniest stories about the good Governor. Like the time he broke his leg while partying at the beach with a bunch of guys, and his handlers couldn't take him to a hospital because he was in a well-known gay enclave. So they got a helicopter and airlifted him to where his wife was, got him in the house, and then called an ambulance.

Everyone knew he was gay, except his wife. I believe her.

7. She's a piece of work?
I actually felt bad for the guy at one point but it is clear he is nothing but a selfish glob of pond scum (with apologies to pond scum). Now it is hard to think she didn't know; at least half of NJ strongly suspected (which is probably why he felt the need to be married). They should both go away and leave us alone.
