A local character, hero, friend, and artist.
Henry Faulkner. Interesting site. Look at the first image in the photos.

http://henryfaulkner.com/

My wife was good friends with him. He used to show up at her performances, sometimes taking the stage to sing a bit. He died on his way to a Halloween party. We were on our way there too. He was hit by a hit and run driver. Because Henry was Henry, the drunk sorority girl got off with a slap on the wrist, even though when asked if she'd never drive drunk again, she said something like not sure, or probably not.

1. His art is very beautiful--
folky but sophisticated and with a great handling of bright color. I wish I'd been able to know him.

2. He was a real character. He would show up at the bar wearing
nothing but a horse blanket.

Lexington has always been a good place for the weird and wonderful. The universities and the horse industry opened our town to a diverse crowd.

A member of the Merry Pranksters made Lexington his home. From time to time some of the other Pranksters would come to town.
