New York State Clergy Support Gay Marriage

The fifty-six clergy were from faith communities that include American Baptist, Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Jewish (Reform), United Methodist Church, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, Buddhist, Metropolitan Community Church, and Unitarian Universalist.

Geographic representation across New York State was equally broad, ranging from Oneonta to Rochester and from Watertown to Syosset.

"We have witnessed the many ways that communities benefit from diverse and welcoming environments, and we know first-hand that strong families make strong communities," the letter said.

I see the Catholic Church is missing from that list, hmmmmmmmmmm.
Must be they're too busy answering subpoenas from child molestation cases to chime in on this issue.

2. This Is A Start...

... it's unfortunate that these enlightened folks face the challenge of opposing BOTH the conservative Christians who openly oppose equality for gays and lesbians AS WELL AS many (so-called) "progressive" Christians who quietly oppose equality.

I praise those enlightened ones who speak out against their bigoted brothers and sisters in Christ and encourage others to do the same.
