Is it a sham/con?
Is it actual good intentions from the religious side?
Is this anothe "ex-gay" ploy type?

I am very skeptical about any of these things from the 'xtian' community, even though SOULFOCE claims to be defending the Gay Community from the Zionistic Extremist. I did send them an email stating I appreciate their efforts to counter the bigotry and hate that the theocrats are selling..

I am a Gay Atheist and I applauded their efforts, but I am still a skeptic about SOULFORCE.

1. Randi Rhodes did an interview

with the guy who either leads or founded (or maybe both) Soulforce. It was several months ago and I was listening on the drive home and I don't remember all that much about it. Anyway, I'm an atheist too and since this is a religious organization it's not really my thing but it sounded legitimate and it seemed like they were doing good work. The founder and/or leader is gay. I don't think it's a Fundie front.

3. Mel White used to ghost write for Falwell

but then came out as gay and has been working for our team ever since. Soulforce is legit.

4. I've done work with them.

They are very legit. I know the leaders, Jacob Reitan and Haven Herrin. Hell, I've even been arrested with Jacob's parents fighting for equality. It is not an ex-gay ploy in the slightest. Jacob is a Methodist and Haven is Buddhist. Everyone is welcome. I've done training workshops with them and it is not ex-gay at all. They actually publish a phamplet by Mel White explaining how homosexuality is actually okay within Christianity.

Their activist philosophy is based on Ghandi and Dr. MLK Jr. They are working for equality and nothing more.
