Cardinal: Vatican Fears Gay Suit
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/06/062906vatican.htm

The Vatican is worried its opposition to same sex marriage, abortion and embryonic stem cell research could one day land it before an international court of justice, a senior Vatican official says.

Alfonso Cardinal Lopez Trujillo, who heads the Pontifical Council for the Family, reiterated traditional Roman Catholic Church positions and criticized some European countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands and France, for giving legal recognition to civil unions.

``We worry especially that, with current laws, speaking in defense of life and the rights of families is becoming in some societies sort of a crime against the state,'' Lopez Trujillo told the Roman Catholic newsmagazine Famiglia Cristiana for its issue scheduled to hit the stands Thursday.

``The church is at risk of being brought before some international court if the debate becomes any tenser, if the more radical requests get heard,'' the cardinal said, speaking ahead of the Roman Catholic church's World Meeting of Families in Valencia, Spain from July 1-9.

3. Maybe a lawsuit would bring them into the 21st century
They have treated women, gays and children like chattel for hundreds of years.

10. Galileo was a straight adult male and he didn't fare so well either...
It seems that the only ones who come out unscathed are those who don't use their brains.

4. Oh crap. Cry me a river. Trying to play the proverbial innocent
victim here.

Forget it Cardinal Trujillo. There are too many kids in foster homes and orphanages to pay attention to your crap. And too many worth individuals who shouldn't have their sexual orientation, something that is NO ONE'S BUSINESS, held against them.

Sheesh. They'd rather have kids stuck in the system for the first part of their lives rather than let them have a chance to grow up in a home with someone who just might turn out to love them and take excellent care of them, give them the confidence to develop into a strong loving kind human being.

6. Their suits are already pretty gay.
A gay suit would be more or less a lateral move, fabulousness-wise.

12. They should be just de-recognized. . .
any church which attempted to use "special rights" to coverup 12000 reported cases of child sexual abuse doesn't deserve to be making moral pronouncements on anything but themselves.

13. Well? Where's the surprise? And it couldn't happen soon enough.
For this sovereign nation -- which the Holy See/Vatican is -- has been discriminating against peoples for centuries in the name of God, and in the most horrific manner. Historically, whenever the Roman Catholic Church intertwined itself with science, civil law, and medicine, for example, it truly held back humanity. Again and again.

So. It should be taken to task for its behavior. Tis long overdue.
