he used it to run-over and kill his ex-wife.
And then, this guy, a registered nurse, sat back and watched her die while his children performed CPR.
Do you know where the first place was I EVER saw a "pro-family" bumper sticker? It was on the local TV news, plastered to the back of this man's car. That was the first place I ever saw one of those disgusting "Marriage = Man + Woman" bumper stickers.
Do You wonder where this convicted anti-family murderer gets his "pro-family" instruction...
My guess is he learned to be "pro-family" from his mother, June Garuti... who signed the anti-gay marriage petition:

http://ledger.southofboston.com/articles/2004/02/19/news/news01.txtYeah, June. You and that monster of a son you raised, Joseph Garuti Senior, just love children. You are just so "Pro-family."
Garuti grew up in Kingston, attended Silver Lake Regional High School and was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
http://ledger.southofboston.com/articles/2004/02/19/news/news01.txtSt. Joseph's Catholic Church... another great "pro-family" institution? Absolutely not.
In fact, the anti-gay bigot who raised that "pro-family" monster is still a Sacristan at St. Joseph's Church. Presumably, they think she serves as a good example for the kids.

Joseph Garuti's mother looked distraught as she tried to reconcile the son she knows with the man who allegedly left his own two children motherless.
``I wish it had never happened,'' June Garuti, 78, said yesterday. ``I'm worried about the children.''
June Garuti mouthed, ``I love you, Joe'' as her second oldest of four sons was being led out in handcuffs and shackles.

February 16: Shirley Garuti, 49, of Halifax, died several days after what police say turned out to be a deadly encounter with her ex-husband, Joseph Garuti, 49. Joseph arrived at his ex-wife’s home and argued with her when she refused his request for an unplanned overnight visit with the children. Joseph Garuti allegedly ran Shirley Garuti down in the driveway with his SUV, and one of their children called 911. Joseph was arraigned later in the week and pled not-guilty to murder charges. 3/14/06 Joseph Garuti was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Children's nightmare has just begun: Long struggle ahead for kids who see abuse, death of parent

A day after Joseph Garuti Sr. was charged with first-degree murder, prosecutors said the cause of Shirley Garuti's death was blunt trauma with multiple injuries. The 49-year-old French and Spanish teacher at Silver Lake Regional High School was on life support for a day before dying in the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
As he stood over his mother's body in the moments after the accident, Joey asked his father if it was OK to resuscitate his mom, said the Rev. Cindy Shepherd, who has visited with the family in recent days.
Joseph Garuti ‘‘just kept saying, ‘if you want to,''' the Rev. Shepherd, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Hanson, said. ‘‘He wasn't going to stop his son, but he wasn't going to offer to help.''
The Rev. Shepherd said the children have been told that their mother's death was an accident. She said Joseph Garuti, who police say has confessed to the murder, told his son that the steering wheel of his SUV turned the wrong way before he hit his ex-wife.
‘‘As of the point when Shirley died, Joey's first thought was, ‘I'm so mad at that car,''' the Rev. Shepherd said. ‘‘I think for him, that's what he needs to hold onto right now.''

Kingston man convicted in ex-wife's death
March 15, 2006
A Kingston man was convicted yesterday of first-degree murder for running over his former wife in her driveway with his SUV. Joseph Garuti, who was immediately sentenced to life in prison without parole, shook his head in disbelief when the guilty verdict was read. It came after five hours of deliberation. Garuti was arrested in February 2004 in connection to the death of Shirley Garuti, 49, a Spanish and French teacher at Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston. Police said he ran over her with his Ford Explorer after they argued over his request to take their children for an unscheduled visit. Investigators had said Garuti confessed to the killing, telling them, ''I lost it." He told his children it was an accident. The Garutis' 12-year-old daughter, Sarah, made a victim's impact statement claiming her father told her lies about her mother. ''She always loved you and forgave you for everything," she said. ''How could you let her down?" (AP)

Ex-husband was ‘too mad' to help: Nurse watched son, 12, give mother CPR
By ANNE TRAFTON and ELIZABETH SMALLCOMB
The Patriot Ledger
HALIFAX - A Kingston man accused of killing his ex-wife by running her down with his SUV told police he was ‘‘too mad'' to try to save her. Instead, Joseph Garuti, a registered nurse, stood by and watched his 12-year-old son administer CPR to his injured mother, a prosecutor said.
<snip>
Prosecutors said the Garutis were arguing about custody of their children, the son and a 10-year-old daughter, in front of Shirley Garuti's Plymouth Street home. When she turned to walk into the house, Joseph Garuti drove his 1993 Ford Explorer at her, then backed up over her, said prosecutor Michael O'Connell.
<snip>
During and after her divorce, Garuti turned to her church for refuge, said Robert Craig, secretary at Hanson Congregational Church. ‘‘It just seemed she had a sense of safety there,'' he said.

Tina Palmer, a member of the church and wife of the Rev. Allan Palmer, said Garuti used to teach Sunday school and was a member of the Christian Education Committee at the church.

AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE AND HONOR. We encourage marriage as an honorable expression of love between two people based on a recognition of the divine love first given to us by God. As such, we do not use past circumstance in measuring to whom we extend the service of marriage. Whether it is a first marriage or remarriage from divorce or widowhood, whether the couple is currently living together or has children outside of marriage, we believe the covenant which binds one to another in matrimony is desirable and to be celebrated. This church regularly extends the covenant of marriage to people with no affiliation to this church.
