Vandals set fire to gay books in Chicago Public Library

Police are looking for vandals who set fire to a collection of gay and lesbian literature at a North Side library, WGN-TV reported.

The fire was set Tuesday at a Chicago Public Library branch near Belmont Avenue and Sheridan Road, according to WGN.

Library workers spotted the fire and were able to put it out, but not before roughly 100 books were destroyed, according to WGN.

Library officials don't know the dollar value of the books, but told WGN that all of them will be replaced.

5. Right wing conservatives burned Magnus Hirschfeld's library, too.

Here's yet more evidence to prove that conservative extremists and fundamentalists are a far greater threat to America than gay marriage. How freakin' obvious does it have to get?

Some wing-nut vandalized over 600 GLBT books at 2 library branches here in San Francisco. The local authorities treated it as a hate crime.

6. Someone in SF did a lot of vandalism to art books a few years ago.

He did it for a very long time with a razor blade, excising pages he found "morally offensive." For those who do not know, art books are the most expensive there are! He was finally caught in the act and was discoved to be a religious fanatic.
