Gay Republicans warming to Bush
Gay Republicans still are angry with the Bush White House about the way it ran the 2004 presidential campaign, but the frosty relationship is warming.

<snip>

Baby steps, advises Patrick Guerriero, the president of Log Cabin Republicans, the lobbying organization for gay and lesbian Republicans, which wrapped up its national convention here this weekend.

But even if Log Cabin Republicans fail in their new attempt to gain a substantial number of new allies among religious conservatives, they are unwilling to become Democrats.

“On the days that I have disagreements with people like (evangelist) Jerry Falwell, I’m reminded that I disagree more with (House Democratic leader) Nancy Pelosi on a hundred different issues,” Guerriero said in an interview during his group’s gathering.

1. The writer confuses the "healing process" with the election cycle.
Log Cabin Republicans have, by far, some of the most highly developed mechanisms of dissonance reduction known to mankind.

2. I don't understand these people
they are voting for a regime that wants to repress their rights and perhaps even make it illegal for them. Is money really their true love, or do they think the gay bashing is all really a sham?

3. Who the fuck could this ludicrous propaganda be aimed at?
I don't know a single gay (or straight) person who could read this horseshit and say, "Well, hey, if Bush is catching on with more gay people, he must be all right!"

4. Great...
Insane gay people like Bush.

Big deal.

The sane ones still think he's an asshole.

5. These people don't seem to realize that the Republicans. . .
have pasted "Kick Me" signs on their backs that don't come off.

Don't they have any self-respect, or has greed overcome it all?

6. "Be good children and drink the Kool-Aid. It will all be over soon."
That is what Guerriero is really saying.

7. This PFLAGer wants to know,
"Is this guy effing crazy?" He obviously has succumbed to the idea that the Rethuglican party is the party of prosperity, tax cuts benefitting the economy, and responsible budgets! Even if he was willing to sacrifice his fundamental rights, he should re-think who's doing what to this nation and everyone except the ultra-rich.

8. The galling thing is
that people like us is what allows people like them to get away with voting so against their interests. We did the heavy lifting and in many states we now have protections these people use to protect themselves even while they vote to make people who live in states without those protections suffer.

and Bush is just ginger peachy. Yeah, if you just forget the fact that Bush is for a constitutional amendment that would take away our rights and permanently relegate us to second class citizenship, well, by golly, Bush is just a swell guy.

God, those Log Cabin people make me want to puke. Disgusting apologists for the most hostile to GLBT folks Presidential adminstration in history.

They can just shut the fuck up now.
