Activists in marriage amendment debate argue over other's tactics
MINNEAPOLIS - With legislative action stalled on a proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage and civil unions, advocates on both sides of the emotional question are challenging their rivals' tactics.

On Tuesday, Minnesota Citizens in Defense of Marriage accused OutFront Minnesota, the state's leading gay rights group, of failing to fully report the expenses of its political action committee.

OutFront, meanwhile, said that social conservatives' three-year campaign for placing the proposed amendment on the ballot has coincided with an increase in bias-motivated violence against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

And Minnesota Citizens called for the Associated Press to retract a news item that it said gave a false impression that it had violated disclosure laws, because it has not registered as a lobbying group.
