Tennessee Lawmaker: Gays 'Unfit' To Be Parents
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/03/032806tnAdopt.htm

Gays and lesbians have "numerous emotional dysfunctions" and therefore unfit to be parents a Tennessee Republican says.

State Rep. Debra Maggart (R-Hendersonville) made the remark in a reply to a Vanderbilt's Peabody College graduate student who sent an e-mail questionnaire on gay adoption to 20 lawmakers throughout the state.

Last year Maggart voted for a bill to ban adoptions by gay couples. The legislation later died in committee. (story)

Maggaret in her response to Sara Dykstra's questionnaire said her view has not changed.

so is the good representative going to propose that every prospective straight parent be tested to make sure they aren't emotional dysfuctional?

1. Hell, I'm a flaming heterosexual. A dyed-in-the-wool breeder.
And this thing has me enraged. Don't ask me what part of her body I would like to kick this woman. The answer would be offensive to most.

Take them deadly seriously.

This is THE wedge issue for the 2006 elections.

9.  Interesting how gay people really just want to be left the fuck alone
to live our lives, yet we get dragged into being wedge issues.

It's not surprising as the pukes are obviously becoming increasingly petrified of losing congress and the White House back to Democrats.

Maybe the Republican pigs, like this woman (and calling her a pig is being overly kind) can start working on revoking gay people's right to vote in time for a 2008 presidential wedge issue? I bet the red states would LOVE that!

Apparently, it's not an election without blaming the gays for something, now is it?

4. I wonder how many "emotional dysfunctions" this twit has?
What is the name of the program I have seen advertised recently on Comedy Central? I think it is called "You Can't Fix Stupid." I have no idea what it is about, but this woman seems somehow an apt illustration of this axiom in action. I guess she can always get that fruitcake Cameron to vouch for her. He is chock full of credibility. NOT.

7. As if the comments in the original post weren't bad enough ...
... here's yet another story on the knuckle-dragging, mouth-breather from another source:

Some Gay Couples Adopt to Molest, State Rep Says

Rep. Debra Maggart, R-Hendersonville, said she still believes homosexual couples should not be allowed to adopt children. In fact, in addition to e-mail correspondence with a master’s student at Vanderbilt publicized recently, in which she said as much, she has also said homosexual couples may molest the children they adopt.

"We also have seen evidence that homosexual couples prey on young males and have, in some instances, adopted them in order to have unfretted access to subject them to a life of molestation and sexual abuse," she said.

<snip>

“I have strong convictions. I just feel kids in our foster have been through enough. They need the optimum family unit, and that is a mother and a father," she said.

http://www.newschannel5.com/content/news/18216.asp

I'm convinced that people like Rep. Maggot ... oops, I mean "Maggart," of course! ... are proof that there must be a God. Without some sort of divine intervention it would be highly unlikely that persons of her obvious limitations would survive to adulthood.

10. This woman should be censured by the entire legislature
The people of Tennessee who elected her have to be among the most stupid human beings ever set on the face of this earth.

I think straights shouldn't be allowed to adopt if they are evangelicals, because I'm sure an easy study could be done suggesting that evangelicals are emotionally dysfunctional and inflict pain deliberately on children. After all, there are plenty of cases of evangelical child abuse...and that's all we need to paint with a very wide brush. This woman should have her ovaries removed and banned from having any children herself.

13. it's absurd. Gays can have natural children. Whatchagonnado
'bout that?

Keep us from having children too in addition to keeping us from being married?

Make it illegal to have children if you're not married?

Really - the argument is that simple. If gays want children, listen up - adoption is not the only way, so these attempts at laws are pointless.

Furthermore, if there's all this evaluation of dysfunction as a criteria for having children, then anyone who shows up preggers at a hospital should have both genetic parents evaluated for emotional fitness and other personality disorders and dysfunctions before being allowed to keep the baby.

Maybe we should propose that - just expand the criteria to ALL parents, or else have a great big steaming cup of STFU. :donut:
