McCain Seeks Endorsement From Anti-Gay GOP Far Right

Once considered the grand old leftie of the GOP Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) is currying favor with the far party's far right as he positions himself for a potential 2008 run for the White House.

On May 13 McCain will deliver the keynote address at the spring graduation at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

In an interview with the Lynchburg News & Advance Falwell said the invitation was extended following a meeting with McCain in the senator's Washington ofice.

"We dealt with every difference we have. There are no deal breakers now. But I told him, 'you have a lot of fence mending to do,'" Falwell told the paper.
