My Wife and I Are Hetero-Sexual Roman Catholics Who...
...rooted for Amelie to win the Australian Open (we've been pulling for her since martina hingis insulted her in 1999), were passionately advocating for the affirmation of the Gay Rights law up here in Maine, went to war with Maine PBS over the "Sugartime" episode of "Postcards From Buster" and will be seeing "Brokeback Mountain" tonight if "Syriana" is sold out at our local theatre.

We're very proud to be active supporters of the "commie hummasechel aginder". When you have the pat robertsons and ann coulters of the world on one side and people like the members of the GLBT community (especially GLBT DUers) on the other, picking sides is SOOO easy!!!!!

A BIIIIIGGGGG :hi: , :loveya: , :pals: , :yourock: , :headbang: , :woohoo: , :applause: and MANY :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to the GLBT DUer community!

12. We Love the GLBT Community!
Funny, ChicaAzul and I thought that Jesus not only taught, but COMMANDED, love.

I guess that we're lucky to have the religious right to remind us to hate everybody who's different! :silly:

12 years of catholic school, too. Consider myself a catholic agnostic now. I have two daughters: one straight and one gay. I fully support both of them. They are the SAME in my eyes. Each deserves Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness under the CONSTITUTION.

...I did for 6. We believe in our Church as a good, but very flawed institution.

As far as what you daughters, as well as all of our sons and daughters, deserves, I couldn't possibly say it any better than you did, HockeyMom! :applause:

7. Married Hetero Roman Cath here with 2 kids
Lots of gay friends, and a couple relatives and we don't care one damn bit about their lifestyle.

We fully support the GLBT community (and the homosexual agenda whatever it is) and want nothing but equality for all. Nobody, and I mean nobody can threaten the sanctity of my marriage except me or my spouse.

Keep fighting the good fight everyone!

You Express our sentiments EXACTLY.

ChicaAzul and I know many Gays and Lesbians, many of them parents, and we'd let ALL of them baby sit our son. We wouldn't let a fundie evangelical of the robertson/dobson/falwell ilk within a country mile of our son. He's TOO precious to allow that kind of damage to be potemtially done to him.

The good fight WILL continue to be fought!

ChicaAzul just reminded me that we not only know many Gays and Lesbians, but are also RELATED to many, very good people all. It's wonderful being married to somebody who is so much smarter than I am. She's a lot cuter than I am, too!

25. I Do, Not Me,...
...but fortunately our diocese in Maine is a bit more progressive than many others. One of the priests in our parish is VERY accepting of the Gay Community. I have been ( along, of course, with my lovely wife) vocal about this nonsensical notion of denying the Eucharist to those who disagree on issues.

In post # 24, it is said beautifully when a nun said that it's not her, or anybody else's, place to judge anyone.

We fight very hard to prevent our church from being co=opted as a political arm of the far right as many Protestant churches have.

24. Roman Catholic here
Have several gay relatives -- have to wonder if it is linked to genes.

When my lesbian cousin came out to her parents, they embraced her, and her new girlfriend. I was never more proud of my aunt and uncle than at that moment. They are, and were, old world Catholics in many ways. When Cousin's relationship ended six years later, they mourned the loss of her partner, who had become like a member of the family. They've even accompanied Cousin and her new partner to events like The Gay Men's Chorus Christmas concert.

My aunt the nun has always been extremely warm and accepting of the situation. I once asked her how she thought, and she said frankly that it went against everything she had been taught. "But it's not my place to judge," she said. "It's not ANYONE'S place to judge." Naturally, Cuz continues to work on her, to push her sentiments even further to the good side.

26. We Also Have Many Gay/Lesbian Relatives.
If we were homophobes, Thanksgiving would be VERY lonely!

Like any other community, there are many Gays/Lesbians who are not good people, just as many are wonderful people. On the whole however, we know NO Gays or Lesbians that we wouldn't trust our son's care to. Conversely, we know NO fundies/evangelicals that we would trust his care to.
