Arkansas Court To Hear From Gay Supporters In Fostering Ban Case

The Arkansas Supreme Court has agreed to hear from organizations supporting a suit to overturn the state ban on gays and lesbians serving as foster parents.

The ban on gay fostering was imposed by the state Child Welfare Agency Review Board in March 1999. The board said it was an effort to protect children from disease, violence, sexual abuse, neglect and instability. (story)

It not only blocks gays and lesbians from serving as foster parents but also prevents anyone who may have someone who is gay living with them from fostering.

Four couples, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union went to court to fight the ban. The Board was represented by the Attorney General's office.

1. I hope the judges in the case are a little more intelligent

than the bigots who created the law. After all, it implies that homosexuals are violent abusers who are all infected with AIDS, and that homosexuals never have long term relationships.

kids in cages, dead kids in buckets, drowned in bathtubs, sexually abused for years has been done by "gay" parents.

They were all non-gay. Isn't that ironic. One would think that the hard cold evidence leads directly to conclusion: more hetero parents than gay parents are likely to be sexually and physically abusive; are likely to be really bad parents.
