Billboards Raising Eyebrows
http://www.wtlv.com/news/georgia/news-article.aspx?storyid=47604

Signs are going up around the state of Georgia to raise awareness about gay and lesbian lifestyles.

They're raising eyebrows as well. The latest sign to go up is in Laurens County where people are starting to talk.

Controversy over the billboard comes one day after the Georgia Baptist Convention voted to sever ties with Mercer University, in part because of the colleges' support for a gay and lesbian student group.

"Georgia Equality" is putting up the billboards. Josh Mason helped design the concept, and is also a Mercer Law student.

1. good campaign
what I found telling was the guy who thought the billboards were an attempt to foist a glbt lifestyle on everyone. That was fear and ignorance speaking. I guess these people think if they look a lesbian in the eye they will turn gay or something. They don't get it-gays and lesbians only want to be allowed the respect and tolerance we give to heteros.

2. Interesting reactions to the sign!
The individual owning a business located beneath the billboard expresses anxiety about the board and its message. However, he's aware that his teenage son wouldn't give the message a second thought.

A positive generation gap!!

4. Amazing...
I *live* in Georgia, and it's GOP Central. Sadly, these will no doubt be vandalized before long. Still...hooray! Cool billboards!

5. I love it
Putting up a billboard acknowleging that gays exist in the community is "forcing their lifestyle" on people. However having a gazillion churches and religion related signs/banners, etc. is not "forcing religion" on people. Someone please explain the difference to me like I am five years old.
