Del Shores's Southern Baptist Sissies headed for the big screen
Del Shores, a veteran writer and producer on such TV series as Queer as Folk and Dharma & Greg , is developing a feature adaptation of his play Southern Baptist Sissies , one of several projects in the works at his nascent production company. Shores made his film directorial debut with the cult smash comedy Sordid Lives , based on another of his plays.

Sissies chronicles the lives of four gay boys growing up in a Baptist community. It will begin shooting in the summer. Also on the development slate at Shores's Eclectic Entertainment is Tainted Love , penned by Shores, which chronicles a night at the 1980s Hollywood nightclub the Odyssey. The company also is developing Miss Fleeta Runs Amuck , a black comedy written by Shores and Leslie Jordan about a dying woman who is determined to break into prison to give her son one last hug, and Undefeated , based on the true story of pro football player Kayo Dottley, who, after a career-ending car accident, returns home to coach his son's football team.

Eclectic also will produce "A Season of Shores," a revival of six Shores plays (Cheatin', Daughters of the Lone Star State, Sordid Lives, Southern Baptist Sissies, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife , and Daddy's Dyin'...Who's Got the Will?) at Los Angeles's Zephyr Theater. Partnered with Shores in Eclectic Entertainment are Emmy award–winning producer Alice West, visual effects veteran Victoria Alonso, and Jason Dottley. OK ... so we've gone from "The Holy Anus" to "Southern Baptist Sissies." Guess the next step would be to combine the two into one big musical extravaganza: "The Holy Anuses of Southern Baptist Sissies."
:wow:

3. I'll put in the "Sordid Lives" DVD ...
... whenever I need a thorough, soul-cleansing laugh. It's a short-term remedy for the modern world.
