Iranian President Ahmadumbjerk disses the LGBT community again
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/09/22/blitzer%e2%80%99s-blog-my-chance-to-chat-with-iranian-pres-ahmadinejad/?iref=allsearch

I also asked him about his September 24, 2007, comments at Columbia University in which he denied the existence of homosexuals in Iran. Ahmadinejad didn’t back away from those remarks and said his position hadn’t changed even though he conceded there may be some gays in Iran. He said homosexuality is a shameful act, one of the ugliest forms of behavior, and there is no way to defend it.

Never will quite understand the love affair some progressives have with this guy

1. To answer your pondering...
...because he hates Israel and the US. He is a "broken clock" too many progressives like to use.

Absolutely NO redeeming social value whatsoever. I can imagine any GLBT person in his or her right mind defending this POS

23. +1.
His supporters and the defenders of Ghaddafi tend to overlap a great deal. Sometimes they really make me regret not using the ignore feature.

15. Is it all right to hate the dumb jerk AND
the dumb rightwing jerks who are running the Knesset? I do have a lot of respect for the leftwing opposition in Israel. I'm just not fond of rightwing jerks running any country any more.

Pro Labor party policies in Israel as articulated by Yitzhak Rabin and anti-Ahmadumbjerk.

3. They aren't real progressives if they can tolerate that bullshit.
They're simply posturing contrarians, or terribly ignorant of reality.

This guy MURDERS people because of 'the way that God made them.' He murders fellow Muslims--a major no no in his faith grouping. He brings cranes into small towns, and quite literally, strings 'em up. No gallows for him--he uses a frigging drott crane. It's disgusting--execution on the move. The entire town is exhorted to get out into the square to watch the festivities--in order that it be a warning to others.

He also hangs young girls for the "crime" of being raped by perverted relatives or strangers, or for behaving like kids sometimes do.

He ignores that bit in the Qu'ran that says "Any Muslim who intentionally murders another Muslim shall be put to death." He's a sick bastard, and I'd gladly pull the switch on him, despite my generic reluctance to go to The Ultimate Punishment in most criminal cases.

5. Exactly!
And those that are alive are cowered into silence. They stay as invisible as possible out of a very real fear for their lives.

When all the gays in your country are either dead or invisible, it's easy for an already warped mind to believe that they don't exist at all.

22. Well, I count calling him a "broken clock" as saying something "good."
And there have been a number of posts at this site, as well as other left-of-center cites which hold him up as a "broken clock," which is generally an indication of approval with what he has said. There have been some who have said good things or minimized his bad deeds.

Here are links to Google Searches on Ahmadinejad that are confined to specific Progressive leaning websites. Not all of the results for each search are articles lauding Ahmadinejad but many for each website are favorable to him.

I am going to reiterate what I said at the bottom of my OP, I never will get what some progressives see in this guy.
