Couple Sues Over Gay Slur in Roller Coaster Photo
California's Great America amusement park is being sued by two men who say a photo taken of them on a ride was altered in humiliating ways and then displayed publicly.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in Santa Clara County Superior Court by Craig Person and Edmund Yang, both of San Jose, refers to an incident that occurred August 17, 2008, after the men were photographed holding hands on the Psycho Mouse roller coaster.

The picture was among those taken by the park and offered for sale at the counter near the ride’s exit. While Pearson and Yang did not purchase the souvenir, some of their friends discovered it displayed later in the day at the counter of a different ride. A thought bubble had been added to the photo along with the words "Were Fags!"

"They were very upset," said the couple’s attorney, Elisa Stewart. When asked about the nearly three-year gap between the incident and the lawsuit, Stewart noted that the "complaints were made early on, and at some point Great America became nonresponsive."

3. What did the friends do wrong?
It was the shop that displayed the photo, from what I can tell the only thing the friends did was find the photo and report on it. There is no suggestion that they had anything to do with the display.

4. Oh, I totally misread the article--I thought the friends "doctored" it!!!
Let me stand as a cautionary representative of the "Don't Read The Shit Too Quickly" Club.

7. I leapt to a wrong conclusion because I read too quickly!
And in my careless youth I had more than a few friends who loved to play the odd and noxious practical joke, which is probably why my mind skewed that way...!
