ABC to air possible anti-gay story tomorrow
World News Tonight signed off with a preview of coverage of tomorrow "Wednesday" night's stories, which included this teaser:

"Wednesday: Plus, find out what one father did when his child came home from school with a book about same-sex marriage. . ."

As you can probably guess, this doesn't sound like a teaser for a positive story - and while we don't have any details, ABC News does increasingly seem to spend an inordinately amount of time spinning "stories" about evangelicals. And this certainly appears to be one of the fave topics of the wingnuts. . .which is reason enough for ABC to pander to them.

I'd like to encourage everyone to watch this segment tomorrow and be prepared to confront them if this is indeed another gaybaiting piece. If it is indeed negative, we cannot afford to let this pass without comment.

1.  I wonder if this is from the NH case-sorry I don't have names.
There was news about it here in the Boston area.

2. I thought it might be that long case going on in Mass. . .
the father throwing a fit because there was ONE depiction of a same-sex couple in a larger book with other parents, including ANIMALS. . .

Of course, I don't know about the New Hampshire case - but this is one of the wingnuts' favorite issues. . .and I sure don't trust ABC to provide anything but biased coverage for the Right.

3. Maybe it was Mass,,for some reason I thought it was NH.
The guy almost had a coronary because his child was exposed,in a little picture book, to a same sex couple raising a child.

God help the kid.

4. Its the Massachusetts case
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 07:36 PM by Rowdyboy
a 23 year old daddy came to school, acted like an ass, got arrested and is suing. I wouldn't worry about it much.

5. Except, if that is truly the Massachusetts case. . .
then isn't it the same one which, according to accounts I read, was about a larger book that had one drawing of a same-sex headed family?

If that is the case, there really IS reason to be concerned - re-read the hype ABC NEWS used to promote this story -

"Wednesday: Plus, find out what one father did when his child came home from school with a book about same-sex marriage. . ."

Doesn't that statement imply that there is a whole book about nothing but same-sex marriage? I wish I could find the link to that Massachusetts article. . .and the name of the book. I think this is my point here. . .unless the book is a same-sex marriage book, and if its really about the Massachusetts case, the network would be deliberately and inaccurately describing the nature of the story.

7. Everytime I see Elizabeth Vargas, I want to puke
because of the spin job she did on Matthew Shephard's murderer on 20/20 last year. I'll never be able to forget that disgusting piece of crap, and I hope she's ashamed of herself.

owned by Disney, and we all know that Walt Disney was a hardcore Republican. His financiers, Bank of America, are also hardcore Republican.
