Gay marriage bill talks unresolved in NY Senate
http://www.365gay.com/news/gay-marriage-bill-talks-unresolved-in-ny-senate/

Albany, NY) Republican state senators who are key to the future of gay marriage in New York have taken a break from their closed-door debate on the issue.

That will delay a possible vote on a legalization bill, although the Senate could still act on Thursday or Friday.

Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos said after a three-hour session Wednesday that no decisions have been made to even send the bill to the floor.

It remains unknown if there are enough GOP senators bucking the conference position and supporting legalization.

Senate Republicans led an effort to easily defeat a similar bill in 2009.

But enough Democratic and Republican senators have announced changes in their votes that there may now be a tie in the chamber.

At least two remain undecided.

1. If it gets to a vote, it's probably going to pass. They need only one more.

There are lots of possibilities for that vote, and most insiders seem to be predicting passage.

The trouble is getting it to the floor. It was supposed to be almost a sure thing; the fact that it wasn't resolved today is extremely worrisome.

2. Staten Island is a hold out
which is not surprising at all. Republican, Conservative, Italian, and Catholic. They always vote the opposite of what the rest of NYC does.

3. You've really got to have a two vote majority to get this thing passed
If it's a one-vote majority, it opens up every GOPer (and maybe even some Democratic senators)who votes for this to the charge from a homophobic opponent that they were "the" vote that made this possible.
