http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/06/07/Conn_Trans_Rights_Bill_a_Sure_Thing/Following the state House of Representatives, Connecticut's Senate passed a bill last week protecting transgender people from all kinds of discrimination — and Democratic governor Dannel Malloy has promised to sign the legislation.
The bill codifies protections already promised by the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. When the state House debated the bill, Republicans voiced objections on the basis that sexual offenders would use the law to get into women's restrooms. The GOP failed in its attempts to exempt restrooms, locker rooms, and boarding houses from the law.
