Businessman’s billboard: Legalize gay marriage

Restaurant owner Matt Baumgartner has ordered up a political message along Interstate 787 for a particular state senator.

Baumgartner, who owns Bombers Burrito Bar, paid $4,000 to buy an electronic billboard ad calling on Sen. Roy McDonald (R-Saratoga) to support efforts to legalize same-sex marriage.

The billboard went live earlier this week and runs through June 20—not coincidentally, the final day the Legislature is scheduled to be in session this year.

“I wanted to let him know that, from a business perspective, and certainly a personal perspective, I support marriage equality. He’s an important deciding vote,” Baumgartner said
