Maryland Democrat finks out on his GLBT constituents/donors
<http://gay.americablog.com/2011/03/sam-arora-now-denying-he-ever-supported.html>

"Maryland Delegate from the DC area who promised during his campaign that he would support marriage equality, and even sponsored the legislation once it was introduced, but who now is wavering (to put it lightly) on whether he'll actually vote for the bill."

3. He's a lying sack of shit, and it's infuriating.
I have at least one friend in his district, probably more. Time for some pushback.

5. *grin*
He represents a district in what is probably the most socially-liberal part of the state; nobody can make him change his mind, but if he stays in opposition his political career could well be over.

6. He can kiss his seat goodbye
Maryland has an interesting system for electing Delegates. District 19 gets to choose 3 Delegates, so in the Primary, the top 3 vote getters move on to the General Election. Arora came in 3rd of 6. #4 was 1208 votes behind that. All they have to do is make sure he doesn't come in among the top 3 contenders.

7. Somehow I don't see the standard bullshit "traditional marriage" lines being very popular
with Montgomery County Democratic primary voters.

Looks like there's a fresh opportunity for an up-and-coming politician in District 19...
