Please remember, we're allowed to start asking for equality again tomorrow.
It will officially be "after the election" and I've been promised all our allies will be 100% for us at that point.

Who else is excited? I'm excited. I bought special asking shoes.

With permission, of course.

1. I don't see why you can't be happy with just a little equality
Not real equality, mind you. But everybody loves to pretend, after all.

2. Surely you jest?
2012 elections are coming up. We need to make sure that we don't have President Palin.

3. No! We need to stay unified for 2012.
You don't want President Palin, do you? WELL? DOOOOOO YOU?!?!?! And you know that anything other than 100% support of all dems and their wonderfully centrist, bipartisan, compromise filled agenda is pretty much a vote for President Palin.

4. Did somebody forbid you specifically not to ask for equal rights
Or is it melodrama ie did someone say you would not be better of with the GOP?

5. Oh, just the usual "Can't you wait til after the election?!"
It happens every two years, like a pack of Democratic groundhogs.

But it's ok, because tomorrow the election will be over, and then no one will stand in our way.

Except those people over there. They're holding plates. And bridles. The hell . . ?

6. I've been around here long enough to see that time and time again.
People around here will say "I support gay rights". And...that's it. It's the fierce advocacy of whenever. The committed goal of someday. The demand of eventually. "You'll get your equality. Just wait for it"

I'm 54 years old, and forgive me for being a bit selfish, if we follow the DU brand of activism for GLBT equality, I'll see equality when I'm 172 years old.

9. But then it will be the election of 2128!
We need to stay unified. Please don't try and rush things. Be patient. By then equality will be right around the corner, trust us. You don't want Bristol Palin's grandson to be president, do you?!?!

shut down the nukes, support kindness to cute fluffy bunnies, etc. In other words, casual lip service to a vague list of liberal priorities involving no effort or sacrifice.

Are you interested in actually discussing anything?

God damn, you're tiresome.

Between the nonstop disruptive behavior and the unmistakable animus toward LGBT people and the hidden profile and the constant stream of right wing talking points, one would think that the gatekeepers might get at east a little bit suspicious, but it hasn't happened yet.

At least they're on the track -- the Repukes have all their brakes permanently set, there will be not an inch of progress with them. Vote Dem and then give them hell!

26. Yeah, there's a problem with that...
Every time we give them hell (especially here) we're told 'you would rather have (fill in the Republican blank'?

It seems that we're great as long as we kiss butt and write checks, but other than that we're selfish for wanting equality, we're one-issue voters who can't see the big picture, or whatever reason they have to disrespect us this time.

27. Yup. WE keep putting the train back on the track and straight dems
keep derailing it again, all in the name of being "practical" of course.

It's just not the right time.

Or we're just moving too fast.

Or we're doing things the wrong way and offending too many straight "allies". (of course they are) And of course that means straight people need to tell us the right way, because they're so much smarter than we are.

There's always some damned excuse, and I'm sure I'm not the only one sick of hearing them. :grr:

21. Special Asking Shoes?
Do they have metal cleats on the soles and make loud sounds, the better to be heard?
Are they like clipless cycling shoes that lock onto a pedal to enhance one's tenacious push and pull?
Do they come with high tops to avoid the BS?
Or thick textured soles to ease your climb?

Just asking.
