Prop 8 Lawyers vs Fox & Tony Perkins - Guess the winners?
Ted Olson On Fox News Sunday

Ted Olson appeared on Fox New Sunday this morning to defend Judge Vaughn Walker against the tired old claims of "judicial activism." Watch as Olson schools host Chris Wallace on the Constitution and the Supreme Court's history on marriage cases. "Would you like Fox News' right to free press put up to a vote?" ZING.

David Boies on Face the Nation

While Ted Olson was over on Fox News ripping apart Chris Wallace, David Boies spent this morning on Face The Nation totally destroying Family Research Council douchebag Tony Perkins. For.The.Win. Boies to Perkins: "That's just MADE UP. That's just JUNK SCIENCE."

3. What happened to these conservative lawdudes to make them rock so much?
Both Judge Vaughn Walker and Ted Olson are conservatives. I don't know what switch flipped on in their heads to make them support equality, but I'm grateful to them for it!

4. It does not matter
Conservative or Liberal, it does not matter because equality and freedom transcend ideology. With Ted Olson on the case, a few of the more conservative Justices like Roberts or Alito may be swayed.

5. I sure hope that's the case. Of course, as a staunch progressive I would argue that
equality and freedom do NOT in fact transcend ideology. I also acknowledge, of course, that conservatives might say the same thing. They are American conservatives, though - conservatives in a culture so soaked in the rhetoric of freedom and liberty that we use the rhetoric of liberty and freedom even when rooting for something directly counter to those values. The argument from social conservatives that legalizing gay marriage infringes on religious freedom is an excellent example of that.

Regardless, I'm glad they're both on board. And yes, perhaps Roberts, Alito, Scalia and Thomas might be swayed by Olson arguing for equality. I'm hopeful that Kagan will be a staunch pro-equality vote, as well; we shall see.
