Catholic League: “Not all gay sex is abusive”
Catholic League: “Not all gay sex is abusive”

The president of the Catholic League released a statement today condemning a New York Times story describing years of abuse suffered by a handful of a Chilean priest’s parishioners.

In a statement called “Not All Gay Sex is Abusive,” Catholic League President Bill Donohue called the treatment of followers of Father Karadima not abusive, but rather a “homosexual relationship.”

Karadima is accused of sexually abusing select followers for decades. In one case, James Hamilton, now 44, said he was abused for more than 20 years by Karadima – from the time he was 17, until he was in his late-30s.

“If a 17-year old guy has sex with an older guy for twenty years, and continues to have sex with him at the age of 38 — while he is married with children — is there anyone who would believe his claim that he was sexually abused?” Donohue said.

1. Donohue's statements make little sense to me
I thought the catholic church says that gay sex is unnatural, a mortal sin, and just plain evil. But now he says it is okay because it was not abusive. Is it okay for priests to have gay sex but a sin for everyone else??

I have never seen a church so full of shit and evil, two faced, liars, and just plain evil men so concerned about saving their power that they give no concern for the souls that they have tried to destroy.

3. That was the first thought through my mind, as well.
Tomorrow, or whenever this scandal blows over, Donohue will be back to his regular gig, towing the Vatican's line and verbally bashing gay people.

2. Isn't that coercion ?
I mean the fella was kind of corner or is it blackmail? Did the priest threaten to tell on him?

Consensual is different. Of course I take everything the Donaho has to say with salt..enough so that when I see that sob I have to reach for my nitroglycerin tabs!

BTW how did you like Moose Meadow?
Partner and I stayed in the Duck room.
We did not get to get married because his divorce had not come through as planned, we plan a return trip.
He used to work for a hard nose who would not promote any one who was not married so he married a coworker to keep his job.
