Front group for NARTH posing as pediatric group distributing homophobic information to schools
Earlier last month, over 14,000 school district superintendents in the country were sent a letter by a group called the American College of Pediatricians inviting them to peruse and use information from a new site, Facts About Youth, which was created to supposedly help young adults. The website says the following:

Facts is a non-political, non-religious channel presenting the most current facts on the subject. Facts is committed to advancing a school environment in which all students will experience the opportunity to achieve optimal health and safety, even in the midst of differing worldviews. Facts is intended to be a resource to promote the factual and respectful discussion of these potentially divisive issues. This is a web site for and about youth and their needs.

The web site also claims that it was created to combat some medical organizations who supposedly because of "political correctness" misrepresent science to affirm unhealthy lifestyles as normal behavior.

Facts About Youth sounds as legitimate as the organization behind its creation, the American College of Pediatricians. That is until you read the so-called facts it posts about the gay community, such as:

Some gay men sexualize human waste, including the medically dangerous practice of coprophilia, which means sexual contact with highly infectious fecal wastes

To put it succinctly, Facts About Youth is a fraud not unlike the eugenics movement . What Facts About Youth does is push almost every anti-gay talking point and distortion repeated by various religious right groups over the past 30 years under the guise of unbiased research.

Who leads the ACP?

# Dean Byrd – past president of NARTH and influential in Evergreen, the Mormon ex-gay group
# Joe Nicolosi – the founder of NARTH and current board member
# George Rekers – NARTH board member, Christian reconstructionist, and closely associated with Paul Cameron. Rekers once recommended banning Native Americans from being able to adopt.
# Arthur Goldberg – founder of Jewish ex-gay group, JONAH. Goldberg was recently removed from NARTH’s board when he was exposed as a con-man with a felony record.
# Rick Fitzgibbons – member of NARTH’s Scientific Advisory Committee and the Catholic Medical Association.
# John Raney – The only information we have on Raney is that he was part of the Editorial/Review board for Paul Cameron’s self-promoting (single issue) Empirical Journal of Same-Sex Sexual Behavior.

NARTH and Paul Cameron treat being gay like it's an infectious disease, they need to be exposed for their hate and attempts to infiltrate our schools ASAP.

1. More lying, dissembling, slander mongering from the
'faith community' which will go unanswered by the rest of that community.

2. WOW
This is a total front group for conservative ideology.

It tries to look professional "American College of Pediatrics."

It lists a "page of resources" that is just links to other sites (example, CDC growth charts).

Any actual content is just conservative rhetoric against the bulk of scientific findings (e.g., acceptance of homosexuality, evidence of harmful effects of spanking, anti-health care reform).

It is really quite amazingly put together to masquerade as something that looks like a reputable resource.

This could be a fascinating source for anyone who wanted to put together a course on critical thinking skills.

4. Point Of Order:
Some gay men DO sexualize human waste...as do some heterosexual men. And women. Scat fetishes are not determined by sexual orientation.

I understand that this fetish was chosen by this bogus group because the vast majority of people (rightfully) find such behavior repulsive and they want to tie it to the public perception of homosexualtiy, but I'm sure there are more truly gay-specific lies used by this organization (sorry, I won't visit their website) that could be better used to illustrate their bigotry and ignorance rather than this quarter-truth.

In other words, I get why this was chosen as an example of this group's bigotry, but it is, on the face of it, a TRUE statement. It shouldn't be presented as an example of this group's outright lies, when there are no doubt much more fabricated lies available.

7. Hypocrite
"I am as sick of articles from gay people about how we're just like everyone else as I am about articles condemning the gay "lifestyle".

Our equality should not be contingent on straight America finally getting the point that, "Hey, that queer goes to work and comes home and watches TV...JUST LIKE I DO!" We were BORN equal, like everyone else, and our equality is being deliberately withheld by straight people. The leather daddies and the drag queens are just as inherently equal as the soccer moms and Shriners.

The gay community has a culture and a heritage that most straight people will never be comfortable with. I do not ask that every gay person go to a gay pride parade in assless chaps and a tiara. But I don't intend to let those of you who are stumbling over yourselves begging for America's love and acceptance throw the rest of us under the bus.

If you want to live a "normal" 9-5 suburban straight lifestyle, you go right ahead and knock yourself out. I fully support your right to do so. But if you feel it necessary to denounce the rest of us as abnormal in order to gain acceptance, you will not have my support. You are just as guilty of bigotry and judgmentalism as the straight people who are keeping us from equality.

I know that Granderson was trying to make exactly the point that I am making: that gay people are as diverse as straight people. But the take-away from that article is clearly intended to be: "Don't be afraid, straight people...we're just like you." No, we're not. Even those wanna-be suburbanites have one defining characteristic that some straight people will never accept: they're gay.

I deserve equality for who I am, not because I fit some straight person's version of "normal"."

Sound familiar?

8. My Disgust With Scat Does Not Contradict My Belief In Equality
Even trolls who try in vain to nitpick a lame and stupid point deserve the same rights as everyone else.

But I'm flattered that you created an identity just to pretend to have a fake issue with my non-existent hypocrisy.

6. methinks they do protest way too much
a little obsessed aren't they?

I read the sub rosa message here as sexual nonconformity is the single largest problem in the world.

Sounds a bit catholic to me; all your wigglers, vijayjays and offspring are belong to me. Do not marry outside the faith, because your brats won't be catholic (fill in the sect or cult or schism).

In their own way and because they obsess on and target children and people with access to children, this group is profoundly creepy.

They are the thing they're worried about - people with a sexual agenda for children.
