General Sheehan LIES
Yesterday, General Sheehan claimed, during testimony, that the genocide in Screbreniça, in 1995, was caused by the gay men and women serving in the Dutch army. The Dutch, who had been charged with the protection of the Bosnian Muslim enclave under UN mandate, would have been less battle-ready against the Serbian aggressors because of the sexual minorities openly serving in the Dutch army.

Incredulous, Senator Levin asked him to substantiate his information. Sheehan than said: "This is what the Dutch secretary of defense forces (then Rolf van Bremen, an officer directly serving under the Minister of Defence, BK) told me."

This is an outright false statement. If the man was under oath, he should be prosecuted for perjury. Sheehan LIED.

Before I proceed, let me just state that the Dutch are outraged over this lie. The prime-minister said "this is no way to talk about gay people" and the Minister of Defence called it "below the dignity of a uniform to make these statements." A ministry spokesman flat-out denied Sheehan's falshoods: "General Rolf van Bremen has never said anything of the kind."

And now for the main course. I know a veteran corporal who has served under van Bremen. Van Bremen could not have possibly said anything of the kind, he told me. It is simply not in the man's character to be prejudiced. Van Bremen is privately hurt this discriminatory opinion is justified by his name. Sheehan committed something close to slander when he involved van Bremen in his testimony before Levin.

The Americans were happy to have the Dutch serving right next to themselves in Iraq and Afghanistan. If they really felt these forces were not ready because of the "gay people" in those ranks, than why were they so happy to ask again and again for prolongation of the Dutch presence in Afghanistan.

Is this the way to treat a loyal ally? Insulting its gay soldiers, slandering its former commanders, and calling an entire nation "not ready for battle", linking it to a genocide, after it has been covering your backs for years? America, I thought you couldn't sink this low.

Of course, the "liberal" media have not reported on the protest the Dutch embassy filed. Somehow, a lie is only newsworthy if foreigners or Democrats state it. Which is why, in my imperfect way, I feel obliged to share this information with you.

1. Oh, we all know he pulled that one out of his fat ass
The Dutch military is fully integrated with gays and lesbians serving openly so he concludes they just *had* to be the ringleaders.

That's his own stupid prejudice showing, not the examination of any of the facts of that particular case.

He should be disciplined over making such a wildly false statement.

3. I guess I wasn't there; who's to say what someone did or didn't say 15 years ago?

4. Un-f**king-believable!
What is up with attitude that gays are wimps and sissies? Aside from sexual orientation, gays are just like everybody else. I know this because I've been hanging out at my city's gay bar since 2004.

I hope that General Sheehan gets a metaphorical whack upside the head for this lie.

5. The Dutch will not take this lightly and it will not simply vanish
And 'something close to slander' is being very kind. He lied, and he slandered. this Sheehan character is without honor.
