Big Love is really exploring being gay and Mormon
and it is downright creepy. Abie, the new profit of Juniper Creek, is having a tryst with a male lawyer who has been appointed trustee who has been appointed to rule over Juniper Creek. Even the sort of sane Mormons evidently believe that being gay doesn't survive into the afterlife. What a creepy and ultimately sad idea. I can't imagine growing up Mormon and gay. It would have to be so hard. Miserable on earth and then straight in the afterlife.

1. My best friend grew up gay and Mormon
Fortunately, his parents loved their son more than they loved being Mormon, so they moved back to California (after 5 years in Utah) when he was a young teenager, and quietly left the church.

4. This is one outstanding show
It's misleading in that the Bill Henrickson, big daddy, is a far shot from the strange types
that lead the families. The show also leaves out the huge problems with inbreeding and
reproduction. But .... the show is hot. There's Abie and the lawyer and now Bill's son Ben and
his wife Margene who are infatuated. It's not incest but the familial connection is clearly
scandalous. Can't wait until next Sunday;)

8. Right
That's what makes it an honest show eve3n though Henricksen is a nonexistent type. Juniper Creek
is going to play a big role soon. The Greens are the ones that are very interesting. Damn! They
are truly scary. It's a great show and very gutsy. I'm impressed with the entire cast and the
production.

6. That episode really pushes buttons...thought provoking...
I admittedly spend half my time detesting the stereotypical character, Nikki... The creepy portrayal of Juniper Creek is amazing, if only for the portrayal of Bill as being fairly "normal" in contrast. It is a fascinating show.

7. From my limited contacts with polygamists, I would say that life
on the compound is really closer to reality than Bill and his family.

9. For all Bill's antics
and as much as I love watching the program, it seems to me that they portray the Hendrickson family almost too positively. I hardly think there are many, if any, polygamist families that have assimilated to the degree they show the Hendricksons have.

It also bothers me that (and this has been shown on Big Love) just as pedophiles, polygamists are attempting to piggyback upon the gay rights (marriage) movement -- especially when it is the Mormons, especially the fundamentalists, who decry homosexuality to the greatest extent.
