Murder suspect thought Puerto Rico gay teen was a woman; UPDATE

UPDATE 5:30 pm:

The Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevodia reports that the suspect in the killing of Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado is Juan antonio Martinez Matos, 26 years old and father of four. Martinez Matos was “looking for women” in a red light district last Friday. He had already been turned down several times, but Lopez Mercado, wearing a blue dress and boots, agreed to get in his car.

District Attorney Jose J. Bermudez says that in his confession, Martinez Matos said that he thought Lopez Mercado was a woman. The victim asked him for money and when he refused, Lopez Mercado pulled out a knife. When Martinez Matos realized that the teenager was actually male, he had a flashback to when he was raped in prison while he was serving a sentence for domestic violence. He then attacked Lopez Mercado, separating his arms from his torso.

So, he was in the slammer for beating up a woman, then he goes looking for a woman, and instead kills a gay man? This guy never needs to see the light of day again.

Yeah, ripping his arms off was extreme (not to mention pretty amazing but perhaps this is a mistranslation of dislocation) but the defense here ought to be simple self-defense rather than some kind of post traumatic horseshit. What am I missing?

6. Good question. At a guess, it's an attempt at cover-up.

The body was cut up and burned to try and hide the crime. Maybe he thinks if it sounded less premeditated it gets him less jail time.

Personally I find it non-believable that a guy who was supposedly raped in prison just happened to pick up a gay teenager thinking he was a woman. It's possible that he really was raped, and was looking for a gay prostitute as part of some kind of act-out related to that, or that the whole story is just bullshit.

If the perp really was raped, they might want to start looking into backlogged disappearence cases. Sexual trauma or issues can jump start a lot of serial murderers.

7. Real story...

Horny john goes lookin for hooker. Picks up a girl...starts to get frisky and finds out there is a frank and beans down there, freaks out and beats her to death then decides to burn and cut the body up to hide that he was with a transsexual sex worker.

That story is total milk toast. A knife...that is bull...if she did pull a knife it was probably in self defense.

8. I've known a lot of blue collar straight men over the years.

Some need a few drinks, other volunteer the story. There is some regional variation, but virtually all of them have either a transexual pick-up/hooker story or a "so drunk I let a guy blow me" story. None of these guys has, to the best of my knowledge "freaked out" and maimed or killed anyone. Some of them go back for seconds and yet in their mind, they are straight as an arrow. Whatevah!

These guys who claim this homosexual panic crap are defective merchandise looking for an excuse. As always, gay people are the control group, or the reverse check. Has a gay man ever killed a female for pretending to be a male? Has a gay man ever beaten a female within an inch of her life for groping him or coming on to him? Has a gay man ever killed some slobbering drunk "straight" guy who is all over him regardless of his daytime desirability or lack thereof? No.

I'd love to hear that stated in court.
