I got to tell a DNC caller "The GAYTM is Out of Order" today.
Got a call on my cell today from the DNC, asking for donations. Told them "no, sorry . . . and you've probably heard this from other people you've called . . . but the GAYTM is Out of Order." She said, yes, she'd heard it from a lot of people, and she asked who could they talk to who spoke for the gay community. I said, "Well, it used to be the HRC, but they've totally sold out these days and I have no use for them, either. Maybe Evan Wolfson comes closest to my perspective." Anyway, we talked amiably for a few seconds and I signed off.

Interesting.

1. Good for you!
I don't know why the hell they are so afraid of the Repugs. They could change these laws if they wanted to.

2. A politician in power wants to remain in power... fear is a powerful sedative.

3. They're not afraid of the 'pugs
They're afraid of the swing straights. They know they'll never get the hard-core 28%, but they're very afraid of losing the fly-over state straights.

4. Yeah, let's appoint one person to speak for all of us...
...NOT. That's the problem, just because HRC and other sell-outs want to keep raking in money and keep their administration jobs doesn't mean they speak for us.

7. Yeah, that's pretty offensive
as if the problem is that we just aren't hearing the right spin from the right PR person.

11. Yeah, I thought of that when she said it.
But I think she was just reading from a cue, and wouldn't have the foggiest idea about why I'd be offended by that question.

8. I saw your thread title a little while ago.
Just a few minutes ago, I got a call from HRC - wanting money, of course. Thanks for posting cuz remembering the title gave me the push I needed to say no to them.

She was new there and didn't readily understand my explanation of how the "T" community was tossed under the bus last time around.

9. YOUR grievance is even worse, IMO.
That episode was particularly ugly. I even scraped my HRC "equality" sticker off my scooter the other day. I replaced it with a generic gay flag.

10. Who speaks for the gay community? Color me reactionary...
...but I thought that was supposed to be the "Democrats" we helped elect.
