Oh come on here. The public (including the miniscule self identifying gay public) are supposed to believe that finally acknowledging gay civil rights would be an impediment to a “public” single payer health care plan. Ha! That would be funny, if it weren’t so sad.
It’s sad that the “real change” candidate made lots of promises to lots of people that are still waiting for the IOUs. On the other hand, the banksters have enjoyed a seamless transition between the previous administration and this one. You can get fries with your bailout now. I’m kidding.
Why should Obama care about this issue at all even though he promised that he would? Well, state after state, I think we’re up to six, are beginning to acknowledge these civil and equal rights among GLBT citizens. It seems it would be convenient for him to wait for a plurality of states to get it right. Are you kidding me? California still can’t settle on it. And I’m not so sure that California is that good a barometer anymore. (MA, CT, VT, IA, NH,ME
I suspect that Oama administration doesn’t want to be tagged as the one that granted equal rights for GLBT people. There are hints that the Obama administration won’t even consider any action on overturning DOMA or DADT until a second lame duck term, if even elected to one.
As a gay man without health insurance, I’m beginning to wonder what any of President Obama’s public health policy would do for me. In short, I see no difference between the Obama policy approach and that of the GOP when it comes to my civil rights. Guess what? I have no one to vote for. I’ll still do what I can in my local 2010 elections, but I am likely to shun the 2012 national vote. After all, neither party is prepared to grant or acknowledge my sexual orientation with the equal and fair rights of a citizen of the United States. Fuck you. A pox on both your houses.
I’m just saying.
Count on me when I can count on you or have to count you out.
