(Very interesting deleted scene from Torchwood on the BBC)

And, speaking of Torchwood, new season teaser!

2. I love torchwood!
Hee Hee and one advantage of living here is i get to see it live! (or at least on my DVR)
I just wish the BBC did "series" longer than 12 episodes at a time.
Just when I figure out when something is on, it ends!
Trying to watch Mock the week is bloody impossible, and i LOVE that show!

3. Owen snogged a guy in the first season
Remember he used the alien hormone spray to get a woman, and her jealous boyfriend showed up? A quick spray, and the boyfriend was "so gonna do" Owen (who promptly called for a taxi, presumably to get away from guy and girl.

12. First episode, actually.
In the first season I recall at least two male/male makout scenes and two female/female ones. And I haven't rewatched the first season in a while. :)

4. I read that Torchwood has been destroyed, gutted.
If anyone knows different, please tell me. This is one subject I'd like to be wrong on!

We've only seen the GREAT Torchwood on BBCA, but I understand that's all over. I read that the Beeb has destroyed Torchwood. Originally written more for adults, it's been watered down to be another children's show to fill in when Dr Who is on vacay.

The fantastic John Barrowman is gone except for occasional guest shots and it's bye-bye to teh gay. Barrowman has moved on to do "The Making of Me" which was fascinating and "Any Dream Will Do" and probably other stuff that's better for having him.

I LOVED Torchwood. It was well-written, perfectly cast and had some very promising story lines. And it had GLBT main characters - not just the goofy neighbor or the token-to-be-PC coworker.

5. Nope, Sarah Jane Adventures is for kids
and I LOVED that one too!
I wish they could get the right to K-9, but they can only brink out the tin dog on season finales :( because K-9 id property of Dr. Who... long story.

Torchwood was on after 10pm and on BBC 2 - where adult stuff goes to play, like the new being Human. It's now going to be on after 10 on BBC 1 - which is nice - but yes Torchwood was basically destroyed at the end of last season.

As far as I know, however, the set is still up. They used it for an episode of Dr. Who (re-dressed it)

Im realllly looking forward to it's return, as they are only going to make 4 2-hour movies of Dr. who this year!!!!!*cries loudly**
The first movie is Planet of the Dead, and it plays on Easter (gotta love the english sense of humor)

Torchwood starts shortly after that IIRC.

if you don't know, look up BEING HUMAN, it's really well done! it's about a werewolf, a ghost, and a vampire sharing a flat. Also VERY adult programming.

6. Thanks!
It sounds like the story I read mixed up two events into one.

I just don't get it. Why on earth would they trash a show as good as Torchwood? Were the UK ratings bad?

How about Primeval? Is that still going? We like that one, too, and are hoping for another season to run here soon. Time travelling dinosaurs - enough said!

10. BBC shows have shorter length seasons; the actors often doing theatre during the interim.
Or other TV shows.

Torchwood has ratings; for that I would never argue.

As being in the sci-fi genre goes; it's more like sci-fantasy with incoherent plots that relies more on soap opera and shock jock gore to keep viewers entertained. In a phrase: "bread and circuses".

I didn't get much past the first series, fifth episode, entitled "Small Worlds". P J Hammond's episode was easily the best of the 5 I'd seen, even if it was a rehash of one of his "Sapphire and Steel" episodes, but the first four were glossy slop and it never really improved.

I didn't look at the deleted scenes either; I suspect they're little more than retreads of material he'd done for the series that made him famous, "Queer as Folk" (which is a more appropriate venue for soap opera type drama combined with explicit visuals, IMHO. :D )

8. Heck, I'm straight but I'll be the first to admit John Barrowman is prettier than...
...most women! I haven't watched Torchwood yet but I've just finished up watching all the new Doctor Who's and I love Barrowman's character and his acting. I am so surprised and pleased that the writers chose not to leave out the element of sexuality- and represent it as varied as the aliens themselves. Whether it's the Doctor flirting heavily with the tree-woman in the second episode of the first season, Rose's mother, the car-bound woman and man-cat (and their litter) under New New York or Harkness, it's just...cool.

9. We will still be happy
From what I have hear; it's true that they will be cutting down on the sex and violence; but the relationship between the two male leads is expected to deepen.

11. I read an interview with Mr. Barrowman...
And he said that the show will still be on after 9 pm and it's false that they are cutting down on anything.

So who really knows what the truth is?
