I’m As Good As You - And I Can’t Marry?
Those clever, crafty, heterosexuals snub nose at one woman and one man concept, in serial fashion.
Nothing say’s sanctity of marriage like 23 whacks at the old pinyata.

Ms. Anderson

Heterosexual Menace: Stop Her Before She Marries Again
Jim Burroway
February 21st, 2009
Apparently for one Anderson, Indiana woman, protecting the sanctity of marriage involves getting married as often as possible:

She has been Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Street and Mrs. Smith. She was also Mrs. Moyer, Mrs. Massie and Mrs. McMillan. But the former Mrs. Berisford, Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Essex was born Linda Lou Taylor. … More than a decade ago, the 68-year-old found her own way to bring Indiana a Guinness world record: She got hitched for the 23rd time.

She’s single again, and she’d would like to find someone to settle down with. Again. She means it this time. She also says that her first marriage was for love, but her last one in 1996 was for publicity.

Publicity!

And to think that we can’t get married for love or money.

You can read more about what those heterosexuals are up to here and in our report, “The Heterosexual Agenda: Exposing the Myths.”

4. I guess she like "getting" married, not "being" married.
and as for your point-- I think gays should be able to marry-- why not? That is what is fair. But I wouldn't sink to the above-referenced perpetual bride's level. You are better.

5. I'd love to know if she got married
in any kind of house of worship, or were they all civil ceremonies?

If there was religion involved, what kind, I wonder?

And that - right there - is the prime argument in favor of letting everyone marry whomever they choose - the civil ceremony is all that matters. Black was right in his acceptance speech last night - the law must be Federal, just like we women got Roe v. Wade after the state-by-state abortion laws varied and had conflicts (not to mention the states that simply criminalized abortion).

The religious crap ain't marriage - not in the eyes of the law.

But, if she's a good Christian, and something tells me that's where she came from, well, I wonder what her "church" has to say about her marital escapades.

The fucking hypocrisy is just getting unbearable, regardless of my sexual orientation. Intellectually and morally, it's just fucking offensive.

7. If these were religious weddings, too
Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 11:38 PM by bluedawg12
she must have paid the minister's kids college tuition by now and maybe a butt tuck + some Botox for the mrs?

Yeah, marriage is civil, let weddings be religious.

After all, it wasn't the civil cermenony, conferring full legal rights, benefits and duties at Cana, it was the wedding feast!

13. There are good marriages and bad marriages, I guess.
it just goes to show ya' that the legal institution is whatever people make of it, now it's hard for me to believe that people who fight so hard to get married have anything less in mind than anyone else, in terms of honoring their commitment and insuring for safe guards and protections in life for themselves and family.

The point of this was not to diss marriage, but to show the irony and hypocrisy surrounding the claim that it's same sex marriage that will devalue marriage.

Oh really?

People can do that now and they're not even Teh Gay!

21. Yep.
I have a hard time believing that acknowledging the right of all adults to marry those they love would do anything but improve the institution.

11. That's great if you can do that. This needs to become an exhibit.
Too many straight people are spitting on a right that so many are desperate to have and cherish but are denied. How can marriage ever be cheapened any more than so many heterosexuals have already cheapened it?

14. It seems to me that marriage is what folks make of it.
There is the ideal and there is the reality of it.

Same sex marriage won't cheapen marriage, while at the same time, not every current str8 marriage is based on the highest of reasons despite rw sloganeering and propaganda.

If the goal is to strengthen relationships, reinforce couple bonds and provide safeguards for families, those rights should apply to all.

Definitely more disgusted than amused.

It's really sick to watch someone flaunt and cheapen a sacred privilege so many are denied.

all on her own: "marriage is between 23 (and hunting for the 24th) men, 1 woman."

22. Will you homos stop attacking the sanctity of marriage?
I just want to be sure that no gays are allowed to drive up to the window of the all-night drive-in marriage chapel in Vegas to be married in a sacred ceremony by a slightly inebriated Elvis impersonator -- just as God commanded in the bible.
