Maine Gay Fetus Bill Dead
this has to be the weirdest headline I've ever seen--I didn't write it folks!

http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/05/052305gayGene.htm

Legislation to make it illegal to end a pregnancy based on the projected sexual orientation of a fetus has been rejected by Maine's Judiciary Committee.

Committee members voted not to refer the bill to the House and Senate. Both bodies were officially notified of the decision on Monday.

The legislation got a chilly reception when it was introduced by state Rep. Brian Duprey (R-Hampden) earlier this month. (story) He was never able to find cosponsors of the measure and the legislation was dismissed as frivolous and irrelevant by fellow lawmakers.

2. A shitty and cynical ploy by Duprey
He doesn't give a shit about gay people, just wanted to attack abortion rights from a different front.

6. An end-run to outlaw all abortions
If gay fetuses can't be aborted, then gays have special rights ...

Thus the rest of the fetuses deserve the same protection.

Fortunately the committee saw through it somehow.

8. I'm surprised he even holds
office in Maine.
I'm originally from Vermont and I thought most NE Repubs were moderates.

4. Projected sexual orientation of a fetus?!
How in hell does anyone think it might be possible to project the sexual orientation of a fetus? The last I heard, this was not within the scope of amniocentesis.

11. It won't be too long before this bill becomes relevent
I know that some people think this is cooky but I don't. I believe that there is a gay gene or genes and that someday soon it or they will be discovered and tested for.
