Slow down... Gay marriage was used as a case against WHAT!?
We've been talking about the 60's and on in my US History class. Now, forgive my ignorance, but I had no idea that some people were against womens lib because it would "lead to gay marriage"....

3. History book...
the one that Wisconsin requires all high-schools to use in a required US History class. Sorry, but I don't have the publishing information on hand.

4. Well of course
you could not let those uppity women get any power like work, take care of the kids, house and the check book. No the big strong men would take care of them until they outlived their usefulness. then it on to 25 year old barbie and she is stuck without much education and few job skills. I remember the 60's. Women who fail to remember this will be forever doomed. The silly ones who say Oh I need to take care of the kids and not work. They work very hard but don't get paid for it. Skills not transfered to the work place. Men are somewhat fearful of the women and their abilities.

2. not to mention witchcraft, infanticide, and the utter destruction...
...of western civilization. The terrible scourge of feminism is the greatest threat humankind has ever faced....

(do I really need to add: :sarcasm: ?)

5. I remember as a youngin' seeing an anti-ERA TV ad ...
and the female warned that if the ERA was passed "my sister could marry another woman, or my brother another man".

I was 13 at the time, but even I knew that was BS.

6. I remember that too.
In fact, when I was in high school, Time magazine reported on a full-page ad that showed a little girl holding a bouquet of flowers, with the headline "Mommy, when I grow up, can I be a Lesbian?" The ad copy went on to warn of the dangers of both women's equal rights and impending same sex marriages if the ERA were ratified.

Reminds me of what fundementalists say about same-sex marriage: "It'll lead to people marrying barnyard animals!" How can you counter such a weird arguement as this?

7. It probably stems from the fact...
...that a lot of men (don't get me wrong, I am talking about those idiots on the right) believe that if a woman wants to be liberated she must be a lesbian.

I wasn't born when the bra burning started here in Australia, but I can guarantee you that I have spoken with a lot of women libbers, and they have all told me the same thing. Baiscally that if you were a womens libber you were considered to be a lesbian.

9. Not Women's Lib so much as the ERA
It would also lead to men and women having to use the same restrooms. Shades of Ally McBeal.

But if Women's Lib leads to gay marriage and gay marriage ultimately leads to people fucking goats (as we've recently been informed) then all I can say is that, ladies, I will personally fuck a goat if it gets you decent healthcare, childcare, comparable wages and equal opportunity.

Khash.

10. And if we all become vegetarians, what next? Vegetable rights?
Soon, PeTA will be liberating fields of broccoli and demanding we "End the Tofu Holocaust."

If the animal rights people get their way, soon we'll all be reduced to eating dirt and drinking rainwater.

The Slippery Slope Fallacy is fun!
